Custom Chocolate-Covered Strawberries with Wafer Paper Butterflies 🩋

If you’re looking for an easy, elegant way to decorate your chocolate-covered strawberries, Wafer Paper butterflies are the perfect solution! Taylor (IG: @icedbytaylor) took us with her behind the scenes as she decorated strawberries with her printed pink butterflies, and the final look is wonderful! This method skips the hassle of fondant and molds, giving you a lightweight, delicate, and fully edible decoration that looks absolutely stunning.

What You’ll Need:

✔ Fresh Strawberries
✔ Toothpicks (for dipping)
✔ White Chocolate or Candy Melts
✔ Oil-Based Food Coloring (for custom chocolate colors)
✔ paper2eat 0.30mm Wafer Paper Standard Vanilla (for the butterflies)
✔ Edible Ink Printer (for printing the butterfly designs)
✔ Cricut or Scissors (to cut the butterflies)

Step 1: Prepare and Dip the Strawberries

Insert a toothpick into the top of each strawberry to make dipping easier. Melt your white chocolate and color it with oil-based food coloring to achieve your desired shade. In this tutorial, a soft blush pink was used to complement the strawberries. Gently pull back the strawberry leaves to keep them clean, then dip the strawberry into the melted chocolate. Let the excess drip off and lightly scrape one side against the bowl for a smooth finish. Allow the chocolate to dry and repeat for a second coat if needed.

Step 2: Print and Cut the Wafer Paper Butterflies

Design or find butterfly images to match your theme, then print them onto the 0.30mm Wafer Paper Standard Vanilla sheet using an edible ink printer. Load the printed Wafer Paper into your Cricut machine and use the copy paper setting for a clean and precise cut. If cutting by hand, carefully trim around your butterfly shapes using sharp scissors. Gently fold the butterflies down the center to create a natural, fluttering effect but be careful. Wafer Paper is delicate, so avoid pressing too hard to prevent tearing.

Step 3: Attach the Wafer Paper Butterflies

Before your chocolate fully dries, place the Wafer Paper butterfly on the front of the strawberry, pressing lightly to secure it. This eliminates the need for extra chocolate, piping bags, or separate attachments. The butterfly will adhere naturally as the chocolate sets.

Step 4: Enjoy Your Beautifully Decorated Strawberries!

And just like that, you’ve created gorgeous, fondant-free chocolate-covered strawberries with edible butterflies. The Wafer Paper butterflies add a lightweight, realistic touch that makes these strawberries perfect for weddings, Valentine’s Day, or any elegant event.
