How to Decorate Perfect Cozy Fall Cakes with paper2eat Frosting Sheets!

It is officially fall, and there’s nothing better than cozying up with a warm drink while watching the leaves change colors, so Marilin (@cake.coutureco) brought those cozy fall vibes straight to the cake with this gorgeous autumn-inspired design!

She didn't have a complete final vision in mind of what this cake was going to look like, but she started with a beautiful autumn orange frosting color and let the rest of the design come together from there. While she didn't know what the final look was going to look like just yet, she did have a feel for was what colors she would be working with: autumn orange, silky brown and a soft green.

Now are we saying that the only secret to making perfect looking fall cakes is just...have a good color scheme? No, but it's half the work! If you start with a color scheme in mind, your brainstorming is halfway done.

What You'll Need

Step 1: Choose Your Fall Design

Start by choosing an image that goes with the fall color scheme you have in mind and that captures the cozy fall feeling you want for your cake.

Marilin went with a beautiful autumn scene featuring warm fall colors and seasonal scenery. Since the Frosting Sheets would be wrapped around the sides of the cake, choosing an image that works well as a larger continuous design is a great way to make the finished cake feel cohesive.

Step 2: Print Your Design on Frosting Sheets

Once you've chosen your design, print it onto a paper2eat Frosting Sheet using edible ink.

For a design that will wrap around the cake, make sure your printed image is sized appropriately for the height and circumference of your cake.

Step 3: Place the Frosting Sheet Around Your Cake

Once your cake is frosted in your preferred shade (autumn orange in this case), carefully place the printed Frosting Sheet around the sides of the cake.

Gently smooth it onto the frosting so the printed design sits evenly against the cake and creates a beautiful fall scene all the way around. As always, when wrapping any cake, start at the center of your print and push outward so your image can be as flat against the surface as possible.

Step 4: Bring On the Vintage Piping

Marilin added gorgeous vintage-inspired piping around the top and bottom of the cake in the same warm autumn orange, creating a beautiful frame around the edible prints and giving the cake a classic nostalgic look.

Step 5: Get Fancy with It

Next came the little extra details that really took the fall theme up another notch. Marilin added edible gold pearls for a touch of sparkle. For another classy decorative touch, she added silky brown bows around the cake.

The rich brown accents complement the autumn colors beautifully; that along with the combination of the warm orange and gold accents with the edible print of the fall scenery made this cake feel super cozy.

Bonus steps if you want EXTRA

Now we're not saying you HAVE to be this extra, but Marilin did go the extra mile on a couple of other things you might want to look into.

A) She piped some lettering on top of the cake that says "It's fall y'all" then proceeded to lightly brush over the piped letters with a metallic edible gold mix (which matched perfectly with the edible gold pearls she had on there already). If you're wondering how that edible gold paint is generally done, it's commonly done using a mix of edible gold luster dust and high-proof alcohol.

B) Lastly, she added soft green, vine-like piped details around the cake to make the whole vibe of the cake a bit more "pumpkin-ish" if you will.

And just like that, you have a beautiful fall-inspired cake that looks like a little slice of cozy autumn. With a paper2eat Frosting Sheet, it's easy to bring an entire seasonal scene to life on your cake and build the rest of your design around it.
