How to Make The Espresso Cake ☕️🤎

What started as a simple coffee-themed cake request quickly turned into one of Marilin’s (@cake.coutureco) most talked-about designs! When her customer gave her complete creative freedom and simply asked for a coffee-themed cake to bring to work at a coffee shop, she knew exactly where to take the idea.

The design ended up getting a LOT of attention. She began seeing recreations of the cake and even had people asking for a tutorial. So, here’s how she did it!

What You'll Need:

Step 1: Find Your Latte Art

Start by searching up some latte art design online and picking one that you love and that will work well with the size and shape of your cake.

Whether you go with a classic heart, a rosette, a swan, or another coffee-inspired design, choose something that will make a statement when placed on top of the cake.

Step 2: Print Your Design

Once you've found your design, print it onto a paper2eat Frosting Sheet  using edible ink.

Marilin chose to use a printed design because she knew she wouldn't be able to achieve the exact latte art look she wanted with buttercream alone. Using a Frosting Sheet made it possible to get those clean, intricate details directly onto the cake.

Step 3: Place It on the Cake

Once your design is printed and ready to go, carefully place the Frosting Sheet right on top of the cake.

Smooth it down gently so it sits nicely on the frosting and your latte art design becomes the centerpiece of the cake.

Step 4: Bring On the Vintage Piping

With the latte art in place, it’s time to add the vintage-inspired piping!

Marilin used decorative piping around the cake to frame the printed design and give the cake that classic, detailed look.

Step 5: Add the Espresso Bean Details

Now it's time for the little details!Marilin added small espresso bean details around the cake to bring the coffee theme together and give the design a little more authenticity with the coffee theme.

Step 6: Add the Brown Bows

For another charming detail, Marilin added brown bows to the cake. The warm brown accents complement the coffee theme while adding another decorative touch to the vintage-inspired design.

Step 7: Finish With Edible Glitter

And finally, add plenty of edible glitter! A generous sprinkle of edible glitter gives the cake that extra bit of charming glam and sparkle.

And just like that, you have a fun and creative coffee-themed cake topped with edible latte art. With a paper2eat Frosting Sheet, you can recreate intricate latte art designs that would be much more difficult to achieve with buttercream alone.
