Did you know you could use paper2eat Miracle Transfer Sheets to transfer custom images directly to your royal icing sugar cookies? Most people know about using them with white chocolate, but the use case for royal icing isn't known as much!

Denise (@denises_delights_) shared this clever technique for transferring practically any image onto a royal icing cookie, and it’s surprisingly simple. All you need is your printed images, some sugar cookies, and royal icing. Here’s how to do it!

What You'll Need

Step 1: Print Your Images

Start by choosing the images you want to transfer onto your cookies and print them onto a paper2eat Miracle Transfer Sheet using edible ink.

You can use practically any design you want, making this a fun way to create custom cookies for birthdays, holidays, parties, or just about any occasion! 

Step 2: Pipe Your Royal Icing

For this technique, Denise recommends using royal icing at its thickest consistency.

Pipe a small dot of royal icing onto your cookie, then press the cookie down onto the printed image on the  Miracle Transfer Sheet.

Step 3: Dehydrate the Icing

Once your cookies are ready, place them into the oven at the lowest possible setting to dehydrate the royal icing.

Denise used her oven’s bread-proofing setting at 100°F.

She chose to flip her cookies as she was placing them in the oven during this process so she could see the image more clearly as it transferred.

Note: Royal icing takes about 15 to 30 minutes at 100°F to form a hard crust. If it takes a little longer for you during this process, take your time, because you don't want to rush it either. This is where you’ll really want to pay attention, so we recommend checking every 3-5 minutes on how everything is going.

Step 4: Check the Transfer

As mentioned above, you don't want to rush it. For example, Denise initially thought her transfers were finished, only to notice as she was lightly peeling back the Miracle Transfer Sheet that some areas of the image hadn't fully transferred yet.

If you can still see patches where the image hasn't made it onto the icing (notice the circular patches on the image below), no biggie! Simply lay the sheet back on top of the cookie, like Denise did, and put the cookies back into the oven to continue dehydrating.

Step 5: Peel Away the Transfer Sheet

Once the icing is completely set and the full image has transferred, the Miracle Transfer Sheet should peel away beautifully. Gently remove the sheet to reveal your custom design underneath.

And just like that, you have custom sugar cookies with detailed edible graphics, made using royal icing,  paper2eat Miracle Transfer Sheets and edible ink.

It’s SUCH a fun way to add personalized designs to your cookies without having to recreate every little detail by hand!
