Using Cricut & Edible Ink Markers to Write Hands-Free on Edible Paper ✍️

If you own a Cricut and love working with edible paper, this hack can be a game-changer for you. Whether you just want to try something new with your Cricut or are just looking for a new way to add designs to your edible paper without necessarily using a printer, as Denise (IG: @denises_delights_) demonstrated in the reel below, this trick allowed her to use a Cricut machine and an edible ink marker to write directly onto our Wafer Paper.

Materials Used in this Tutorial:

Step 1: Set Up Your Cricut for Edible Writing

If you don’t have an edible ink printer, this method allows you to still get beautiful edible designs. Start by placing your paper2eat 0.60mm Wafer Paper Premium onto a Standard Grip Mat (a Light Grip Mat is ideal, but Standard Grip works too). Secure it flat to ensure precise writing.

Step 2: Load Your Edible Ink Marker

Remove the blade from the B side of your Cricut carriage and open the A side clamp instead. Insert your edible ink marker where the pen tool normally goes. Make sure it’s secure before proceeding.

Step 3: Adjust Your Cricut Settings

In Cricut Design Space, type out the text you want to write on the Wafer Paper. Go to Operation Settings and change it from Cut to Pen. In this tutorial Denise recommends using a calligraphy setting of 2.5mm for a bold and elegant look.

Step 4: Let Your Cricut Do the Work

Load your mat into the Cricut machine and press the Cricut icon to start the process. The machine will begin writing your design directly onto the Wafer Paper with the edible ink marker, creating clean, consistent lettering without the need for an edible printer.

Step 5: Experiment with Different Fonts

To see what works best for your project, try using different fonts and sizes. In this tutorial, Denise tested several styles, showing the variety of effects you can achieve using this technique.
